Palafitos

£345.00

Mixed media on canvas.

Chiloé is a small archipelago off the coast of Chile, known for it's wooden churches set up by Jesuit missionaries in the 1700's and its brightly coloured wooden stilt houses, known as palafitos. I visited the islands in 2007 and was instantly drawn to their bold colours reflected in the waters below.

This relief art canvas was created by Georgina Smith in her studio in Brighton . Each artwork is built up of multiple layers of card, cut to create a 3D image, which is then drawn and painted. Her paintings centre on familiar buildings found in Brighton, with a focus on those that have a sense of faded seaside charm.

Dimensions 305x305mm, unframed.
