Saltdean Lido
Gicleé Print with archival inks on Somerset Enhanced Velvet paper 255gsm, Limited edition of 25
Opened in 1938, this beautifully curved Grade II* listed Art Deco lido has recently been undergoing restoration. The pool reopened in 2017 and the building itself is currently undergoing renovation. I wanted to show the building in vintage style which included some slightly ominously dark waters. The buyer wanted slightly cheerier waters so I repainted the pool in tropical blues - in the end I couldn't decide which version I preferred!
This print of a relief art canvas was created by Georgina Smith in her studio in Brighton. Each artwork is built up of multiple layers of card, cut to create a 3D image, which is then drawn and painted.
